Inspiration:    Matthew 21: 1-17 • Mark 11: 1-10 • Luke 19: 28-38 • John 12: 12-13
Gloria laus et honor; Theodulph of Orleans, ca. 760-820.
Lyrics:    John Mason Neale, 1818-1866, from Medieval Hymns and Sequences, 1851,
The Hymnal Noted, 1854, and Hymns Ancient and Modern, 1861.
Meter:    76.76 D
Notes:    While normally sung with a refrain (as presented here), it can also be sung using the
refrain as an antiphon while singing the verses straight through (so verse 2 is sung
where the refrain would be after verse 1, etc.)
Somewhat bizarrely, the traditional version of the hymn in New Living Parish Hymn Book
uses praise in place of laud, while the modernized version in Catholic Worship Book II
retains laud.
